VCCNE Breeders Code of Ethics
I herewith pledge to maintain the following minimum practices as a breeder:- To breed only with the intention of improving the breed by breeding only those vizslas who conform to the standard as recognized by the American Kennel Club, exhibit soundness, stable temperament and natural hunting ability.
- To breed only to those dogs or bitches who are free of serious hereditary defects. Are over two years of age and have been x-rayed and are OFA certified free from hip dysplasia.
- To refuse to sell or consign puppies or adult dogs to wholesalers, retailers, pet shops, or any buyer where I have reason to believe that the puppy or dog will not be preperly cared for.
- To honestly evaluate the quality of the vizsla sold and fairly represent that evaluation, whether the puppy be of show or pet quality.
- To educate all buyers on the importance of spaying or neutering, and to urge puppy purchasers to spay or neuter all pets which for any reason will not be used for breeding.
- Not release any puppy less than seven weeks of age.
- To encourage the buyer at his expense to have the puppy examined by a vetrinarian of the buyer's choice within 3 business days of receipt of the puppy or dog.
- To furnish to the buyer, details on feeding, care, inoculations, written pedigrees, and a written sales agreement.
- To furnish the buyer with AKC registration papers at the time of sale, or within a time specified between the two parties.
- To supply assistance and support to puppy buyers for the life of the dog.
- To encourage owners to become involved in their regional vizsla club as well as the Vizsla Club of America.
- To abide by the constitution and by-laws of the VCCNE and by the rules of the American Kennel Club and/or it's own governing body.
