Here's a picture of GINGER at the beach with her Mom, Cathy, and her buddy, Oliver. Ginger is a lucky girl! who was given a second chance for a happy life!!
LUCY
Lucy was surrendered by a family that was moving and felt that taking Lucy with them was too difficult. She fostered in MA where her foster parents worked through some issues such as wariness of strangers and intolerance of handling. Lucy learned to play with her foster brother and loved going for long off leash runs! She was adopted by a very Vizsla savvy/ training knowledgeable couple in MA. She now lives with her new Vizsla brother (also a Rescue) and is doing fantastic in a structured, nurturing environment. She has lost weight and looks like a pretty little lady again!
SASHA
Sasha was surrendered to Rescue due to a family crisis. After fostering in CT she was placed into a home in MA. After a bit of a rocky start (Sasha developed some separation anxiety) she is now happy to lounge on the couch while her people are away and loves the walks and running she gets when they are home! Though Sasha originally lived with two other Vizslas she has decided that she prefers to be an "only dog" now. She is happy being the center of attention with her new Mom and Dad! What a love!
HUNTER
Hunter was surrendered by a family that was unable to meet his exercise needs. Hunter is a sweet boy and is being loved by his new family in NH. They're more than happy to include Hunter in all their activities and Hunter is thriving!
PENNY
PENNY was surrendered by a family that was unable to give her enough attention and exercise. Her new 'Mom and Dad' in VT definitely have their hands full with Penny! But long hikes, bike rides and lots of training have turned Ms Penny into a loving companion! She's a lucky dog and her family feels just as lucky!!
JAEGER
Jaeger was purchased at a petstore by a young guy who didn't have the time to exercise or educate a Vizsla puppy. Jaeger was surrendered by the family at 10 mths of age. After fostering in NH he was adopted by a very active family in MA. Now Jaeger goes for runs, hikes and swims regularly and has two doggie siblings! He is a happy boy!
TITAN
Titan was surrendered to Rescue by a young family that was simply overwhelmed by the needs a Vizsla puppy! His new Mom and Dad in MA love his energy and inquisitiveness! Titan has a new Vizsla brother to help tire him out too and is getting the time and training he needs!
HOPE
Hope was surrendered due to a family crisis. After fostering in MA where she learned to feel more comfortable with new people and places, Hope was adopted by a family in MA. She has a new Vizsla brother and two kitties to play with!. Her new name is Eva! (see Hope below with foster Mom on a hiking trip)
MONTY
Monty was surrendered due to a family crisis. After a short foster in VT he is being loved and spoiled by his new family in CT. He has two new Vizsla sisters!
SIENNA
SIENNA enjoys the good life in her new home! Oh yeah - she's got the frisbee! She is loved by her new V sister, Brandi, her new human sister Kennedy and Tom and Traci in NH
OZZIE
Things are going great!! We could not have found a more perfect match! Ozzie is sweet, gentle, and loving dog! If I could imagine everything I would want in a dog, it would be Ozzie. He plays and interacts with us. He walks beautifully on leash and we didn't have to train him on the fence because he stays right with us. He is awesome with our three year old and yet will play with my thirteen year old. He loves to snuggle and stay right at your side. He is very mellow and has the best manners. The owners had done a great job of correcting him. He also gets along fine with our pug.
Ozzie is a bit over weight and has had very little exercise. We are very active so it is new for him to be out so much. It has been almost two weeks and he has already lost some weight. He also had some terrible skin problems that are responding well to good food and flax oil. He is changing before our eyes.

ZOOKIE
Zook is doing GREAT! We just started our training with him. We're learning clicker. Got him a car harness so he's tethered in car. It's on a rare occasion that we now get shaking and when it does occur it comes and goes quickly. He's with us for almost every car trip. We go for daily hour long walks in woods. He's leashed but we're starting to give him off leash at the end of the walk. He displays characteristics from each of our ladies, that some days make ya feel sad but at the same time it's nice to have those reminders. I'm thinking that come May/June I'm gonna be on the lookout for an older female as a companion for him, so keep us in mind should any come into rescue... The Condon Family
Clementine went through numerous homes before finding herself in a foster home with folks who understood the unique qualities of a Vizsla! After years of being pushed away and yelled at Clementine found her self with people who understood her simple needs - LOVE ME!
Through RESCUE she was placed into a family that embraced her silly, sweet and needy personality! Clementine shares her new life with a Pointer and a Cavalier KC Spaniel . She is one lucky dog! Adopted by Amanda and Gina Conaway.

How many RESCUE DOGS can you count? How about 11?! A great turn out of Rescue Dogs at the VCCNE Fun Day!
These are photos from Steve and Carol Matheke. This is a real Vizsla family as you see in the pics! The Matheke's grown children , having been raised with Vizslas, now have V pups of their own (see Bella and Ranger). After having Vizslas for 30 some odd years the Mathekes decided to get their next dog through Rescue. They adopted a young female named Willow who had been surrendered along with her brother due to an illness in the family. They have worked through Willow's initial wariness of men and her seperation anxiety. Willow is one lucky dog!

Josie
10/13/2004 - A picture of Buzz and Josie after a day in the woods. And yes that is a white couch - Scotchguarded but it is for them anyway.

Beamer
5/11/2004 - Thought I would send you some pictures of Beamer playing in the yard etc. He is doing GREAT!!! Has put on about 3 lbs. don't see the ribs quite so much anymore. He has been having a great time playing with the neighbor dogs and chasing Bumble Bees. Everyone thinks he is just a pup and are surprised when we tell them he is 6 years old. He is very excited that the pool is open and he can hardly wait till we let him go in, but it is a little too cold yet. All and all he is a real good boy. He is doing good with Kerry (cat) although she could take'm or leave'm. He let her smell him and he is always careful around her.
That all for now will keep you posted

Schooner
It's been almost 8 months now since I adopted Schooner (mid-Sept.), and he's been nothing but a pure joy. Schooner adapted very quickly to his new environment, and has made dozens of canine friends at the local parks here in Boston. If not for a little gray in his beard, you'd never know he just turned eight (4/27)...everyone thinks he's 8 months, not years, when they ask his age. He's still puppy at heart - always wagging his tail, and by far the fastest dog at the park. And he's so well behaved, both with other dogs and kids. I really lucked out. Other than a couple of minor medical issues (a small melanoma growth on his toe and a sarcoma growth near his elbow - both removed successfully) it's been smooth sailing for this little sailor.
Thanks again!!

Sasha
Sasha (who was formerly known as Tasha) joined our family on Superbowl Sunday. Other than her habit of rolling in smelly fish parts that she finds down by the lake, we have nothing but good things to say about her. She has excellent house manners and a loving personality. She is full of kisses and cuddles. Sasha has quickly adapted to our lifestyle of running several miles a day, hiking, cross country skiing, playing outside, and cuddling on the couch. She is a little dissapointed that the lake is no longer accessible for running all over, as it is quickly melting. Sasha and her new brother, Zookie, get along perfectly. I actually snuck up on them today when I returned home, and found them cuddled up together on the couch sleeping peacefully. Sasha and Zookie have a busy summer ahead of them while they join my husband and I in training for our next marathon. So, Sasha's new home is a success! In the photo, Sasha is on the right, Zookie on the left, busy with their favorite activity.

Zeus
Zeus is doing just wonderful!! He is enrolled in Novice Obedience - we started working last week - I hope to get him titled by late spring. He is a hoot - a little on the rough side with other dogs - still incredibly pushy with Alexis and Zephyr - but he is showing improvment on a daily basis! I had him in a "down & relax" for 11 minutes the other day and he actually fell asleep! The kitten Perci thinks his tail is her personal plaything and chew toy - and he lets her maul him.
He is FINALLY wagging his tail non-stop - typical Vizsla and he has started to give kisses - very gentle ones! The sores around his muzzle are healed up nicely and there is only one remaining scar. He is slowly but steadily putting on both weight and muscle - he has very fine looking legs now and you can no longer count every rib and vertebrae! He is a great hugger and would like nothing better than to sit beside you (preferably on top of you) on the couch.
We are definitely enjoying him.Livia, Ethan, Alexis, Zephyr, Perci and Zeus (Livia competes in obedience and agility and hopes to enter Zeus in trials this Spring! Zeus's new "siblings" are a Dobie, a Vizsla and a cat!)
Gracie came into rescue when her owners went to Europe on vacation and decided not to return to the States! Gracie is 8 yrs old and a bit of a princess!! Chris and Wendy Russell fostered her and slowly taught her to accept collar restraint. Her new owner has had no issues with that at all! (Great job Wendy and Chris!) Gracie now lives with Gizella Betak and a Dalmation pal, Sparky.
[picture coming soon]
Duke (now Tucker) was turned into a NH shelter when his owners had a new baby and felt they no longer had time for him.
Tucker was adopted on May 18, 2003!
Following is an update from his new owner Gary Stearly
Well here we are day 3. Tucker is doing fantastic!!! he is totally housebroken and now even knows to go to the front and back doors. We went to the vets yesterday and the doc says he is awesome and is in great health.
He is still having a little separation anxiety when I leave but we are working on that. He has a nice new bigger crate and last night he slept through the night with no howling (although I was in the bed next to him). Tonight we try it with me in my own bed and Tucker in his crate in the other room. He is a totally great pup I am very lucky to be his human. Thanks for all your help.
Sincerely
Gary Stearly

4/5/2003 - Above are a couple pitures from Laura Fisher. She adopted Nomar, now Bailey. Nomar belonged to a family in NY who were forced to place first Nomar, then their other Vizsla due to a family members serious health problems. Nomar fostered with Lesli Hyland briefly then was placed with Laura Fisher. Nomar or as he was re named, Bailey, has a Vizsla sister named Chelsea and a very dedicated owner. Laura takes her dogs to training classes and has a lovely home with area for her V's to run. Bailey is a lucky dog!

Late Summer 2000 -- Here is Garci flanked by her 2 new brothers -- Baron and Rembrandt
July 2000 -- Rusty was bought in a pet store and lived with several different owners before he the last one turned him into a humane society in Southern New Hampshire. The shelter manager contacted us and allowed us to find him his new home -- on the left he is greeting Kim his new mom. On the right Here is Rusty (Now he is known as "Boomer") and his buddy Indy at the shelter in NH.
A "Rescue" is a Vizsla from various types of shelters, owners no longer able to take care for their dog(s), strays or abandoned. It is recognized and accepted that most Rescue Vizslas will be without registration papers. Establishing the "Purebred" nature of the "Rescue" will be done through evaluation by a member of the area club directly involved with each rescue.
If you are interested in pursuing a "Rescue" or if you are interested in helping with the Rescue Program in your area, contact Lesli Hyland.
